League Studies

Stay tuned for information about our new study of the citizen initative process in Maine, just getting started.

The Citizens' Initiative Study Committee is researching the appropriate uses, restrictions, and financing of Citizens' Initiatives in Maine. Committee members are: Valerie Kelly and Beth Basham, co-chairs, Suzanne Carmichael, Barbara Kaufman, Sheila Kirby, Kim Peaslee, and Judy Whiting. The committee is now researching background information on the history and processes involved in Maine Citizens' Initiatives and People's Vetoes and plans to keep membership informed of its progress. The committee is hoping that the study guide will be available to all LWVME members by summer, 2019.
