Poverty, Immigration, & Voting

EQUALITY COMMUNITY CENTER
15 Casco St
Portland, ME
Saturday, January 13, 2024
2:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Join the League of Women Voters of Maine’s Youth Council for a conversation about the intersections of poverty, immigration, and voting.

Designed and facilitated by young people, the panel will feature guests from the community who have first-hand experience on this topic. People who live in poverty or have immigrated face large barriers that make it extremely difficult to become civically involved and vote. Accessing resources such as translation, bus fare, child care, and more can be extremely challenging. We invite youth and community members to join us for the afternoon to discuss and learn about how we can help all Mainers use their voices to influence policy and decision-making.

Join us in person at the Equality Community Center in Downtown Portland or online! The week before the event the zoom link will be sent to you.
