Happy Birthday to the League!

February 14 marks our 102nd birthday. We were founded on February 14, 1920, after the 19th amendment was ratified and women won the right to vote. It's been a good run so far — fighting for democracy reform and voting rights and informing and educating voters. But we're far from finished.

It's also the day of love — Valentine's Day. Help us celebrate. Give the gift of membership to someone close to you, someone you ❤️! Contributions like these help us continue our important work dedicated to making democracy work and empowering voters.

Membership grants you access to the League community, where you can volunteer with inspiring individuals and help us make big decisions about the League's goals and future. Membership is open to people of all genders, backgrounds, and political beliefs who are age 16 or older and who agree with our foundational principles.

Here at the League, we stand with Wabanaki communities and their claim to tribal sovereignty. LD 1626 was originally introduced last year but was carried over into 2022. We supported and testified in support of this bill, with attention to protecting the voting rights of tribal members.

URGENT: The public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, February 15 at 9:00 AM, and the Wabanaki Alliance has put out a call for folks to submit written testimony.  You can choose to submit your testimony and deliver it during the public hearing, or submit written testimony only. Here's how you can help.

Want help writing your testimony? Our Youth Council will lead a writing workshop for LD 1626 on Monday, February 14 at 4:00 PM. Anyone, no matter your age, can sign up! Learn more here.
